July Project Status Report
Hello, Kitto² community! As you have perhaps noticed, things have been silent for a while.
The project has been in stasis for the last four months, with only a few small changes in the days after the February update. I’ve mostly been doing Other Things1, but my attention will shortly return to the Kitto² framework.
On Deck
I am currently working on users blocking each other. This is an important feature, since “is X blocked?” is a question most social features will need to ask when figuring out what to show — notifications, mail, forums, user shops, profiles, etc.
I’ve written up a brief documentation article explaining how blocks should work, with some advice to developers on implementing blocks in their own features.
Beyond blocking, there’s a little bit done on the items, currencies, and rarities documentation. These will need loads of examples, but I don’t want to include a lot of example code right now for fear of it becoming outdated almost immediately — so I’ll come back to do that later.
Next Up
These are the same as the last report: blocking out the social parts of Kitto²: friends/blocks, the forums, direct messages, and profiles.
And it’s a good point in time to start working on some of the documentation articles. With the admin panel working, the extensible inventory system is done. It would be good to document how item categories work and how to add your own.

I work in (American) higher ed, which has had some, uhhhhhh, problems since late February. You may have heard something about them on the news. ↩
